National visitor accommodation registration

Do you take bookings for overnight stays in Wales?

New legislation requires everyone who lets out visitor accommodation in Wales to be registered.

From cottages to caravans, spare rooms to open fields, if you’re taking bookings for overnight stays, the law is changing. So, whether you’re putting them up for one night, or they’re staying for longer, you must register with the Welsh Revenue Authority.

Registration opens at 10am on Thursday 1st October 2026. Accommodation providers must register with the Welsh Revenue Authority by 31st March 2027 at the latest.

Registration applies to all visitor accommodation providers, including:

  • Casual hosts renting out a spare room now and then
  • Professional providers running all year round

You’ll be able to register for free online.

The Welsh Revenue Authority has put together the following support guides to help you with the registration process.
